Net Casino Sucker Wagers — Part Two

  • Progressive side wagers: Games such as Caribbean Stud Poker regularly contain one of these. You generally place a bet (a dollar is the usual amount) to try to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of $25,000. Although big jackpots like these are very tempting, they are also particularly hard to win. You would need to hit a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this bet. Also, think about this- you wager 20 hands and put the side bet each time. That is twenty dollars you could have used towards the real game bet in place of a sucker bet. Just think about what you might have been able to win at a wager with greater odds using that $20.
  • Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is completely true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has only one. This takes the overall casino edge from 2percent with one zero wheel to a huge 5percent in American. The single number wager has just a one in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets as a substitute which have a much lower casino advantage.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you play it, the house edge can be a huge twenty-five percent. No, that isn’t a typo. Because of the large set of numbers you have to choose, it isn’t advisable to gamble on Keno very much. A number of times for entertainment, perhaps. But don’t waste all your money on it or you will quickly discover yourself broke.
